How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind when attempting to carry out tasks which would have otherwise required utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular equipment make it the best alternative for performing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries would have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, models that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated area and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could likely take place.
