Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. For example, workers can carry out exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts rather than having the additional work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suitable to specific jobs like electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires and come in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces below the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. Since these kinds of machinery should be directly positioned below the work site, as opposed to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms that enable the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, because they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, because they provide the employees with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The cherry picker or boom truck refers to the utility vehicle normally used to raise employees for various tasks performed at heights. Usually, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and controls the machinery. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand along with a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy materials or equipment from one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of equipment excel at various tasks and are suitable for particular applications and completing particular tasks.
