During the year 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. At that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the demand for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. Like for example, Genie went into manufacturing light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, telehandlers and stick booms.
Because of the economic downturn in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation within the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the initial few years following the sale. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand name.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is dedicated to continually improving quality and efficiency and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machines are emission-free, quiet machines capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the equipment must be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the advantages of a 48V DC machinery.
Telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These equipment are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all types of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These machinery deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
